Today, the Assessment officer of the VQA, Estelle Vutinadamu, and the Quality Assurance Advisor of the VQA, Elly Govers, organised and facilitated a wrokshop on external moderation training.
On the 21st March 2019, the Assessment Officer, Estelle Vutinadamu and the Quality Assurance Advisor, Dr Carmelia Govers, conducted and external moderation workshop training to selected external moderators. That activity comes in to ensure that external moderators meet the requirements of the Assessment Moderation for PSET Policy where external moderation panel meeting from each industry sectors should include industry experts, assessors from registered providers, assessment officers and competency standard development officers from VQA. The purpose of this one day training is for the external moderators to:
  • Explain the external moderation process and their role as external moderators;
  • Conduct external moderation for units of competency following the VQA process;
  • Complete an external moderation form for a unit.
The external moderators who attended that training believe that with this new process, institutions that delivered accredited courses around Vanuatu will maintain the standards set by VQA and qualifications issued will be credible and will be accepted by other jurisdictions.

The 16 participants were the following selected external moderators: trainers from Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), Australia-Pacific Technical Coalition (APTC), Pacific Vocational Training Centre, etc.

External moderation of units of competency for qualifications delivered in 2018 for Automotive, Building & Construction, Business, General Skills, and Tourism & Hospitality will be carried out on the 8th and 9th May 2019.
