The Competency Standards Development Unit (CSDU) works with the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) providers to enhance the industry’s understanding of their role, and to ensure that the training delivered by the registered training providers are quality assured and highly responsive to industry’s existing and future skills needs.

It is therefore important for the CSDU to consult regularly with the Industry Skills Councils (ISCs).

The ISCs now play an important and increasing role in:

  • Providing advice to VQA and registered training providers (RTPs) on skills needs;

  • Engaging with VQA and RTPs in developing skills and training packages;

  • And assisting in competency standards development through functional analysis.
