Industry visit to find skills gap

“Unemployment’s up, but I still can’t find the workers I need!” Sound familiar? It’s the skills gap – the gap between what employers need and what the job seekers are offering. Industry visit aims at having information about the industry sectors’ experiences, challenges, working environment, job procedures and work practices. Industry visit also aims at identifying skills gap within the industries in Vanuatu. 

 

The CSDU visited the following industries during the second quarter of 2017: APTC, Building Construction & Allied Association, Port Vila Efate Land Transport Association (PVELTA), Vanuatu Manufacturers & Exporters Association, TVET, Land Transport Authority (LTA), Department of Tourism, Diving Association, Small  commerce foods and vegetable cluster, Agribusiness (VCCI), PHAMA, Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, Department of Biosecurity, Beef Industry, Food Technology Development Centre & Analytical Unit, Department of Forestry, Department of Fisheries, Florabunda Florist, and many more. 

 

The CSDU had meetings with the Industry Skills Councils (ISCs) and Industry Experts Panel (IEP) including Media and Journalism IEP members, Nursing IEP members, Policing IEP members, Health and Community Services ISC.
