A five-day workshop training workshop on competency standards development for post-school education and training is organized by the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority at the Vanuatu Police College.

A group of 20 women and men including trainers of Vanuatu Institute of Technology, Vanuatu College of Nursing Education, Chairman of Vanuatu Nursing Council, Bitron Services and VQA Staffs were trained by Rob Stowell, Director of Learning Australia, on competency standards development.

The key technical outcome of the workshop was the development of competency standards which define the exact requirements of the workplace. These standards will help training providers ensure that the training is high quality and industry demand based.

The workshop trainer, Rob, said that the evolution of new technologies is on the rise and there will be no trainer of mechanic, of electronics but instead in the future there will a profession called “mechatronics” who would have the knowledge and skills on both areas mechanics and electronics.

At the end of the training, each participant received an award of attendance with a great smile. The CEO of the VQA, Mr. David Lambukly, thanked the professor for his time, and as a token of appreciation, the participants offered him a gift.
