The renewal was approved by the VQA Board on 25 February 2026 and is valid for a period of three (3) years, authorising VPTC to continue delivering formal police training programmes in accordance with national education and training standards.

The ceremony was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kalshem Bongran, senior officers of the Vanuatu Police Force, representatives of the New Zealand High Commission and Australian High Commission, and officials from the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority.

The Director of Police Training welcomed invited guests and partners, noting the significance of the occasion for the Vanuatu Police Training College. Appreciation was expressed to VQA for its guidance and regulatory support throughout the compliance process, and to the New Zealand High Commission for its continued partnership in strengthening police training and institutional capacity. The Director reaffirmed VPTC’s commitment to meeting national standards and continuously improving the quality of its training delivery.

A representative of the New Zealand High Commission congratulated the Vanuatu Police Training College on the successful renewal of its registration and acknowledged the strong partnership between New Zealand and Vanuatu in the area of policing and training development. The representative emphasised the importance of quality-assured training institutions in promoting professionalism, accountability, and public confidence in law enforcement, and reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to supporting capacity-building initiatives within the Vanuatu Police Force.

Speaking on behalf of the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority, Ms Norma Velly, Principal Officer for External Quality Assurance and Compliance, outlined VQA’s role as the national regulator of PSET providers. She noted that the renewal of VPTC’s registration reflects improvements in governance, quality management systems, and compliance with VQA requirements. Ms Velly encouraged the College to continue working closely with VQA throughout the registration period and to maintain a strong culture of quality assurance and accountability.

In formally receiving the renewed Certificate of Registration, Commissioner of Police Mr Kalshem Bongran expressed appreciation to the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority for its guidance and oversight, and acknowledged the efforts of VPTC leadership and staff in meeting regulatory expectations. He emphasised the importance of nationally recognised, quality-assured training in strengthening the professionalism and effectiveness of the Vanuatu Police Force, reaffirming the Police Force’s commitment to ongoing compliance with VQA standards and to ensuring officers are well prepared to serve communities throughout the country.

With the handover of the certificate, the Vanuatu Police Training College is authorised to continue delivering accredited and nationally recognised police training programmes, reinforcing its role as a key national institution in developing a skilled, disciplined, and professional police workforce for Vanuatu.
